How to create, modify, and enable/disable dining methods within the system.
Differences between the 3 Dining Methods
In-House: This is the menu that is used when guests are inside the dining room/building. They can order from this menu and directly pick it up from the staff.
Pickup: This menu is used for when a guest is going to order from off-site but are going to come in person and pick up their order.
Delivery: This is the menu that is used when it is expected that the guest will order their food off-site and then someone will take the food to the guest at their location. An address should be associated with this order for the guest.
Create Dining Method
Start on the Settings tab of the point of sale. Select the “Online Ordering” button on this front page. From there, you can see the button for “Add Method” at the top right of the screen. Selecting this will show all the fields we need to fill out to create a new dining method. Select whether this is an In-House, Pickup, or Delivery dining method. There is a toggle at the top of the page that can be used to select what type of dining method is being created. After selecting the type of dining method, fill out the Dining Method Name and Dining Method. If you are creating a Pickup or Delivery, can see 3 more options to fill out on the right over the In-House. In-House will have only “Service Fee” as a field to fill out but Pickup and Delivery will also have “Fire Time”, “Minimum Order Price”, and “Order In Advance”.
Fire Time: The total amount of time needed to complete an order. The kitchen will need to start working on this order this amount of time before the delivery date.
Minimum Order Price: Set a minimum price for this option. The guest will be prompted to meet the minimum price to continue.
Order In Advance: Set how long in advance guests can place orders. Setting this to 24 will allow the guest to order 24 hours in advance of them picking it up.
Service Fee: This is how much extra it will charge the guest to purchase their order using this dining method. Setting it to $0.00 will make it free.
Additional Checkout Fields:
Once finished filling out these fields, go ahead and select “Save” at the top right of the page to finalize this new delivery method.
Modifying a Dining Method
Start on the Settings tab of the point of sale. Select the “Online Ordering” button on this front page. We can see all our available dining methods on this page from here. Select one to start modifying it. To do this, there are 3 dots at the top right of every dining method. Selecting that will bring up all the options for the dining method. From here you can go through and modify the dining method until it fits your needs. Once you are finished, go ahead and select the “Save” bottom at the top right to finalize any changes to the system.
Enabling/Disabling a Dining Method
Start on the Settings tab of the point of sale. Select the “Online Ordering” button on this front page. We can see all our available dining methods on this page from here. There will be a toggle button with “Enabled” or “Disabled” next to it, depending on its current status. If it is blue with enabled next to it, it is currently enabled. If it is gray with disabled next to it, it is currently disabled. Selecting the toggle button will toggle it between enabled and disabled. No saving is needed for this to take effect, once you click the button, it is already in the system as that status.
