# How to do an Open Item

## How to start and finish an open item within the order screen.

First, we will start on the Order tab of the point of sale. We will begin by selecting the blue “+” sign to start an order.

From here we will see the beginning of an order. Select the “Other” category to show the special Table Needs category.

This will show the “New Open Item” menu item that we will be selecting.

We can see its all filled out now. We can go ahead and select “+ Add Item” to add this item to the order.

Here we can see the new Open Item on the order now. We can go ahead and continue adding items to the order and pay it out like normal.
