How to Place an Order Using Table Maps
Table Needs POS System for Full Service Restaurants
If you're running a full service restaurant on Table Needs, the Table Maps feature is where you'll spend most of your time. It keeps your floor organized and makes placing orders quick and easy. Watch the walkthrough below, then follow the step-by-step guide underneath.
Open Your Table Map
- From the left side menu, tap Tables.
- Your table map will load — this is a visual layout of your floor, and it can be configured to match however your restaurant is set up.
Start a New Order
- Tap the table you're working with (for example, Table 2).
- Enter the number of guests (for example, 2 guests).
- Tap Start Order.
This opens the main menu area where you'll build the order.
Find and Add Menu Items
- Browse items by scrolling through the All Menu section, choosing a category, or using the search bar to find something specific.
- Before selecting an item, choose the seat number it belongs to. Tap the seat number (for example, Seat 1) to open that seat.
- Tap the menu item to add it to the order.
- If the item has modifications — extras, substitutions, or mandatory choices — you'll see them right there on the item screen. Standard toppings and required choices are clearly marked. Make your selections and tap Add to Order.
Assign Items to the Right Seat
- Repeat the process for each guest. Switch seats by tapping the seat number before adding the next item.
- If an item ends up on the wrong seat, no problem — tap the item on the left side of the screen, toggle it, then tap the correct seat number to move it.
Send the Order to the Kitchen
- Once everything looks good, tap Send. You'll see a confirmation: Order sent to the kitchen successfully.
That's it! Your order is in and your kitchen is on it.
Tips
- Use the search bar when you know exactly what you're looking for. It saves time during a rush.
- Always double-check seat assignments before sending. It keeps the kitchen organized and your guests happy.
- Modifications show their cost right on screen, so there are no surprises when the check comes.
